Chromium

Chromium polynicotinate is an ionic substance used in some nutritional supplement products. It appears in products that are referred to as a Medical food used for nutritional support for conditions associated with Diabetes II. The product is also known as niacin-bound chromium, as referred to in an article about hydroxycut published by the Department of Physiology and Biophysics of the Georgetown University.

Chromium is a metal. It is called a "trace element" because very small amounts are needed for human health.  Chromium is used to improve blood sugar control in people with prediabetes, type 1 and type 2 , and high blood sugar due to taking steroiods. Also used for depression, polycystic ovary syndrome, lowering "bad" cholesterol, and raising good cholesterol in people taking heart medications called beta blockers.
